ATLANTA (AP) Arizona running back Andre Ellington will not return to Sunday's game against the Falcons after aggravating a hip injury.

Ellington left the field slowly with 10:13 remaining in the second quarter. He had five carries for 12 yards before the injury. The team announced at halftime Ellington would not return.

The Cardinals also lost safety Tyrann Mathieu for the remainder of the game with a thumb injury in the second quarter.

Falcons defensive end Stansly Maponga was knocked out of the game with an elbow injury. Atlanta cornerback Desmond Trufant returned in the third quarter after suffering a neck injury late in the first half.

Ellington had 10 carries for only 24 yards in the Cardinals' 19-3 loss to Seattle last week and was probable on Arizona's final injury report of the week with foot and hip injuries.

Marion Grice and Stepfan Taylor were the immediate replacements for Ellington at running back.
