Cardinals at 49ers Recap, Highlights, Final Score, More
The Arizona Cardinals picked up their second win of the 2016 NFL season with an emphatic Week 5 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night

With Carson Palmer sidelined with a concussion for the Arizona Cardinals, it was a bit hard to get excited for Thursday Night Football in Week 5. As they went to Levi’s Stadium to face the San Francisco 49ers, how could you get up for the opposite-of-vaunted Drew Stanton vs Blaine Gabbert matchup?
However, it didn’t ultimately matter that Stanton was starting for Arizona as this one was all about David Johnson. The second-year running back for the Cardinals was fed the rock early and often. Still, it was Gabbert and Jeremy Kerley connecting for the first score in the game. Just before the end of the first half, though, Larry Fitzgerald helpe Arizona convert on a turnover by the home team and tie the game up.
In the second half, though, Johnson started reaping the benefits. He continued to gash the 49ers for chunks of yardage. And ultimately, he was able to find the end zone twice in the second half. Moreover, Fitzgerald found the end zone again while the Arizona defense made Gabbert look silly for the most part. Carlos Hyde helped salvage some semblance of dignity for the Niners, but it was all for naught as Arizona picked up the big win, their second of the season.

Three Stars
David Johnson, Cardinals – Arizona’s star running back was expected to carry the load on Thursday and he certainly did. He finished with 27 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns. For good measure, he added three receptions for 28 yards as well.
Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals – Despite the fact that Drew Stanton is horrendous, the veteran star still got it done. Fitzgerald finished with 81 yards receiving on six catches along with two trips to the end zone.
Carlos Hyde, 49ers – Though he finished with only 78 yards on 22 carries with a score, Hyde was the best offense that the Niners had on Thursday night. Considering what the rest of the offense looked like for most of the night, that stands for something.
