Cameron Wake used his $80k Range Rover as a blocking sled during rehab

Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake was in the midst of a career year last season before he tore his Achilles in Week 8. He had recorded seven sacks in seven games, forcing a career-high four fumbles in the process.

It was a freak injury for Wake, who had missed just three games in his six NFL seasons beforehand. As a result, he’s not used to rehabbing an injury as serious as a torn Achilles. This is especially evident when considering the fact that he pushed his Range Rover around as a part of his offseason workouts.

That’s right. Wake pushed his Range Rover – an SUV that sells for more than $80,000 – up and down a paved road to help strengthen his Achilles. Of course, that’s not all he did. Wake also ran hills and lifted weights at midnight, which is crazy in its own right.

Wake is just about all the way back from the devastating injury and is expected to return to the field on Sunday against the Seahawks. The 34-year-old defensive end said he’s thought about the play that the injury happened on but has begun to move past it.

“I've run through that last play a billion times in my mind, and I feel like I've gotten over it. I've got to move forward. It's just like football. You always use that contest of, oh, the next play is the most important. I can't harp on things that have happened before. I'm concentrating on moving forward and doing my best to win games.”

Wake could be in for a big season after the show he put on in seven games last year. He’ll be without fellow end Olivier Vernon (now with the Giants) in 2016, but Ndamukong Suh is still in Miami and will eat up blocks better than anyone in the NFL.
