Cam Newton: 'Not another team that I'd rather play for than the Carolina Panthers'
Cam Newton recently opened up in an interview with Graham Bensinger on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger," a sports interview series. Newton is one of many high profile athletes who has sat down with Bensinger, and Bill Voth from the Black And Blue Review brought us more details about the interview.
Newton hit on a few different topics, but there is one specifically that will likely be a talking point for fans of the Carolina Panthers.
“I can tell you this, there’s no other place … there’s not another team that I’d rather play for than the Carolina Panthers. I say that with such sincerity due to the fact that, like I said, when I came into this league, I was a raging bull. ‘With me, we’re going to win!’ But it’s a process. When I see guys like a Greg Olsen; when I see guys like a Luke Kuechly; when I see guys like the Man of the Year, Thomas Davis; when I see guys like Ryan Kalil and we get keep getting attributes on our team. Happy to get Michael Oher, happy to get Ted Ginn back. Our trend is ascending, not descending. So the league is on notice for the Carolina Panthers, and I do want to be a part of this for years to come.”
The statement from Newton began when he was asked about a potential long-term contract by someone in the audience. It's no surprise that Newton wants to remain a Panther and it's pretty safe to say that the feeling is mutual for the organization.
Be sure to catch the interview in its entirety either on Yahoo! Sports as soon as it's released, or on one of the many TV stations which will air it this weekend.
