Cam Newton goes to Charleston to meet shooting victims' families

Cam Newton took some time away from the playbooks, the offseason grind and anything football related to attempt to brighten the day of a few families of the shooting victims from last week's church shooting, according to Bill Voth of Black And Blue Review.

As Voth explains, "Rashard Alston, a linebacker for Newberry College, posted a picture of Newton and Chris Singleton to his Instagram account. Singleton, a baseball player at Charleston Southern, lost his mother in the shooting."

Alston posted the following on his Instagram:

"I just want to take the time to thank @cameron1newton for reaching out to me and coming to visit my brother! This guy is a class act and extremely down to earth. You are truly appreciated!"

Voth also points out that Newton went to visit the family of Tywanza Sanders. Sanders was trying to protect his aunt, Susie Jackson, during the shooting. Here's an image from the visit:

It's nice to see Newton take the time to visit the family, making him the second member of the Panthers to reach out in a big way, just days after Jerry Richardson donated $100,000 to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.
