Building an Empire of Success in the NFL

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Success in the NFL is measured by many things, the most important being winning.  in his 16th season as head coach, that game plan holds strong for Bill Belichick.

Bill Belichick is no stranger to success, a common occurrence as the head coach of the New England Patriots. Since his hiring in 2000, he has orchestrated some of the most intelligent winning seasons the NFL has ever witnessed. Four Super Bowl rings, thirteen divisional titles among numerous other accolades, has prevented Bill from tasting true defeat. Though he has been on the other side of the confetti falling, he is still the most winningest coach in the postseason to date.

Many expected 2016 to be the year of the collapse, especially since Belichick’s main man Brady has to sit the first four games. So far, albeit early in the season, this theory has been debunked. The top TE and arguably one of the best offensive targets, Rob Gronkowski, has been absent to start the year. These two main factors alone should have caused the Patriots to finally fall to reality with the rest of the league.

Once again the mastermind that is Bill Belichick has made a diamond out of an ugly piece of dirt. With Jimmy G at the helm, and more recently 3rd-stringer Jacoby Brisset, has a 2-0 head start on the AFC east. Newly acquired Marcellus Bennet filled the gigantic shoes of the Gronk quite well, notching 100 yards and a TD in week 2.

With two games remaining without their pro bowl quarterback Tom Brady, success is still rampant. The confidence is high with the predictable return of both their stars, something Belichick strives for.

His mantra has always been to win regardless of the roster in place. Strategically selecting certain players in the draft and free agency has made the process of losing starters much easier.

Could this success spell disaster for Tom Brady and his legacy even more than his questionable career has? That’s a discussion that could last forever, the principal however the centre point of this conversation.

The system and everything about what Bill Belichick lives and breathes is what fuels the Patriots winning ways. Statistics don’t speak loud enough volumes to the fact Matt Cassel and now Jimmy G/Jacoby Brisset (who?) win with Bill’s game plan.

With Belichicks career on the eventual brink of completion, no one can be certain of when he will actually call it quits.

Tom Brady still looking like a star and primed for a powerful return in week 5, all but furthers the amount of success that New England will experience. Not only this year, but for many years to come.
