TAMPA, Fla. (AP) The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued to seek defensive help with the selection of North Carolina Central cornerback Ryan Smith in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

Smith is third defensive player picked by the Bucs over the past three days, joining first-round cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and second-round pass rusher Noah Spence.

This year's draft is all about assembling pieces necessary to give young quarterback Jameis Winston the best chance of being successful.

Smith had six career interceptions in college and will compete for a role on a defense that allowed opponents to complete 70 percent of passes and throw for 31 touchdowns last season.

Kicker Roberto Aguayo, selected late in the second round on Friday, could be a significant upgrade, too. He is a former college teammate of Winston who didn't miss a field goal attempt inside 40 yards and made all 198 of his extra points at Florida State.
