Bruce Arians says Carson Palmer is almost back to full strength

Published Jun. 2, 2015 12:16 p.m. ET

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer has been battling back from an ACL tear and is "real close" to being 100 percent according to his head coach Bruce Arians.

Palmer hasn't participated in any live drills during OTAs, but that is not because Arians doesn't think his quarterback is ready. Arians doesn't trust the rookies trying to make a play on Palmer.

"He could probably go on 11-on-11 drills," Arians said, via ESPN. "We’re just not going to risk it right now. The veteran guys, they know well enough to stay away from him, but I don’t trust some of these rookies trying to make the team."

Arians hopes he can help Palmer complete his NFL resume.

"He’s the leader and he’s got a great resume," Arians sad. "One thing missing [are] playoff victories, and hopefully we’ll have those this year."
