Browns sign punter, cornerback on off day
The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent punter Richmond McGee to replace Reggie Hodges, who suffered a season-ending injury.
McGee, recently waived by the Chicago Bears, was brought in for a tryout after Hodges tore his Achilles' tendon during practice Tuesday. McGee has spent part of two seasons on the Bears' practice squad. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Philadelphia in 2008, when Browns general manager Tom Heckert was with the Eagles.
The Browns also signed cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who started nine games last season for the Eagles. He has appeared in 50 regular-season games since joining the NFL with Washington in 2005. Last season, Patterson recorded a career-high 62 tackles and four interceptions.
Cleveland also signed undrafted free agent linebackers Archie Donald and Eric Gordon.
