Browns' Cribbs sidelined by sore knee

Published Aug. 1, 2011 5:58 p.m. ET

Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs did not participate in Cleveland's first practice in full pads because of an injured left knee.

Cribbs was in full uniform Monday but had a wrap on his knee a day after being hurt during a 1-on-1 drill. The dynamic return specialist said he should be back on the field "by the end of the week." He said an MRI showed no structural damage, but he gave no other details. Cribbs spent the early portion of practice on a conditioning bike and stood to the side as Cleveland's offense continued to learn new coach Pat Shurmur's West Coast system.

Also, running back Montario Hardesty was kept out of some drills as he comes back from a knee injury. Shurmur said Hardesty did not have a setback.
