Brackett, Haynesworth, McIntosh out Sunday night

Published Oct. 18, 2010 12:23 a.m. ET

Starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett was inactive for the Indianapolis Colts' game Sunday night against the Washington Redskins, who were without defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth and linebacker Rocky McIntosh.

Brackett started each of the Colts' first five games, but he missed all three practice days this week with a groin injury. Rookie Pat Angerer, a second-round draft pick out of Iowa, was slated to start in Brackett's place.

Among the other Colts' inactives were safety Bob Sanders (biceps surgery), who hasn't played since Week 1; running back Donald Brown (hamstring) and receiver Anthony Gonzalez (sprained right ankle).

But left tackle Charlie Johnson was active for Indianapolis after sitting out Friday's practice with a sore right foot.

Sunday night's game is the second consecutive that Haynesworth has missed - and third of six this season. He rejoined the Redskins on Thursday, nearly a week after his half brother died in a motorcycle accident.

Coach Mike Shanahan had said it would be game-time decision on whether Haynesworth would play Sunday, based on how Haynesworth was ''both physically and mentally.''

McIntosh has a concussion. H.B. Blades was given his starting spot.

The Redskins also were without running back Clinton Portis for the second straight game because of an injured left groin. Portis is expected to be out up to six weeks.
