Bowles: Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain starter when Geno Smith returns
One of the most interesting storylines surrounding the New York Jets this season is the quarterback situation. Geno Smith went down in training camp with a broken jaw after IK Enemkpali punched him, giving way to Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter.
Through two games, Fitzpatrick has played well. He's completed more than 63 percent of his passes, with four touchdowns and two interceptions. More importantly, he's led the Jets to a 2-0 record and has avoided committing big mistakes.
With his solid play this season, it made some wonder if Smith would become the starter once healthy. Head coach Todd Bowles shot down those thoughts on Tuesday by saying Fitzpatrick will remain the starter even when Smith returns.
This is crushing news for Smith, who has missed time due to a strange situation that's likely no fault of his own. He had high expectations heading into the season, but it appears as though his time with the Jets may be over. Unless Fitzpatrick gets injured or falls apart on the field, it's his team in 2015.

If there was any doubt about the Jets' QB situation, Todd Bowles cleared it up: Fitzpatrick will remain No. 1 even when Smith is ready. #nyj
