Bills sign linebacker Humber; claim center Lewis off waivers
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Bills have signed linebacker Ramon Humber and claimed center Patrick Lewis off waivers.
The additions were made Wednesday, a day before Buffalo closes its preseason playing at Detroit. To make room, Buffalo cut kicker Jordan Gay, who spent the past two seasons serving as Buffalo's kickoff specialist, and guard Jamison Lalk.
Minus Gay, veteran Dan Carpenter is expected to take over both the placekicking and kickoff duties this season.
Humber was cut by New England on Tuesday, and has seven years of NFL experience split between Indianapolis and New Orleans. At 5-foot-11 and 232 pounds, Humber established a niche playing special teams.
Lewis was claimed a day after being cut by Seattle, where he had 13 starts in 16 games over the past two seasons.
