Bills' LeSean McCoy ruled out with knee injury

Published Dec. 20, 2015 2:56 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Bills can't afford this.

Running back LeSean McCoy left Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a knee injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. McCoy was carrying the ball in the second half when he took a hit to his right knee from safety Dashon Goldson and he crumpled to the ground.

He was taken to the locker room, but eventually jogged back to the sideline under his own power. That has to be viewed as a positive sign, even if the Bills felt it was too risky to let McCoy return to the game.

A source told NFL.com's Rand Getlin that McCoy suffered a minor MCL sprain and is thought to be day to day.
