Bengals TE Tyler Kroft hurts left knee during camp practice

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:28 p.m. ET

CINCINNATI (AP) Tyler Kroft hurt his left knee during practice on Tuesday, another blow to the Cincinnati Bengals' tight end position.

Kroft went down after hyperextending the knee and was taken off on a cart. He was scheduled for an exam to determine the severity.

The Bengals were counting on Kroft while starter Tyler Eifert recovers from surgery on his left ankle. Eifert is still wearing a protective boot and could miss the start of the season. Kroft played in 16 games last season, starting six, and had 11 catches for 129 yards and a touchdown.

Top draft pick William Jackson III tore a chest muscle during practice on Monday. It's unclear how long the cornerback will be out.
