Bengals sign former Browns linebacker Karlos Dansby

CINCINNATI (AP) The Bengals have signed versatile linebacker Karlos Dansby from intrastate rival Cleveland, bringing in someone who can help them get through Vontaze Burfict's suspension.

The 34-year-old linebacker played for the Browns the last two seasons and led them in tackles. He also had a team-high three interceptions in 2015.

The Bengals will miss Burfict for the first three games. The NFL suspended him for repeated violations of its player safety rules, including his hit to the head of Steelers receiver Antonio Brown during Pittsburgh's first-round playoff win.

Dansby is the team's first significant signing from outside the 2015 roster. They've tried to keep their defense intact after it gave up the second-fewest points in the league last season.
