Bengals' Atkins, Whitworth named to All-Pro team
Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins did not play like just a guy this season.
Atkins was named as a first-team All-Pro for the second time in his career Friday. It's a long way up from where Atkins was last season, when defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said that Atkins "was just a guy out there" as he worked his way back from a torn ACL. Atkins was a dominant force once again in the middle of the defense, posting 11 sacks and 42 tackles. He was also named to his fourth Pro Bowl last month.
Joining Atkins on the All-Pro team is left tackle Andrew Whitworth, the first nod of his career. Whitworth was on the second team last year after not allowing a sack all season. Whitworth was also named to his first Pro Bowl last month.
