LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears are sticking with a 4-3 scheme on defense.

The team confirmed it is not changing fronts in a story published on its website Tuesday. Chicago allowed the most points and yards in franchise history last season.

General manager Phil Emery says his priority is to add playmakers on defense.

He also explained the decision to bring back defensive coordinator Mel Tucker for a second season, saying the Bears went through an ''extensive process'' and determined he ''possesses the necessary skills, personality subset, character, patience and passion to be that guy.''
