Arizona's Wells leaves game with right knee sprain

Published Oct. 23, 2011 6:42 p.m. ET

Arizona running back Beanie Wells left Sunday's game against Pittsburgh in the second quarter with a right knee sprain. His return was questionable.

The third-year pro from Ohio State had 42 yards on 12 carries before leaving for the locker room at the two-minute warning. Wells missed the third game of the season, at Seattle, with a hamstring injury.

Wells' first-half performance had put him at 423 yards rushing for the season, more than he gained in all of 2010 when he was slowed by injuries.
