AP source: Browns moving on without coordinator DeFilippo
CLEVELAND (AP) A person familiar with the decision says Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is no longer with the team.
DeFilippo had two more seasons left on his contract, but he will not be retained by new coach Hue Jackson, the person told the Associated Press on condition of anonymity Saturday because the move has not been announced by the team.
In DeFilippo's only season with Cleveland, the Browns passed for more than 4,000 yards and rushed for 1,500 yards for just the fourth time in club history.
Jackson, who spent the past two seasons as Cincinnati's offensive coordinator, is expected to call the Browns' plays next season.
DeFilippo has already drawn interest from other teams. He interviewed for San Francisco's coaching vacancy before the 49ers hired Chip Kelly.
Jackson was hired earlier this week and is beginning to assemble his staff. On Friday, he announced he's keeping special teams coordinator Chris Tabor, who has been with Cleveland since 2011.
