After taking OL, LB, RB, Redskins enter Day 3 with 7 picks
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan vowed to wind up with 10 picks in his first draft with the team, and after taking three players, he enters Day 3 with seven more selections.
By trading down with Seattle in the third round, McCloughan goes into Saturday with two choices in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds, plus another in the seventh.
After drafting Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff fifth overall Thursday, the Redskins took Mississippi State linebacker Preston Smith in the second round, and Florida running back Matt Jones in the third.
Said coach Jay Gruden: ''We're just going to try to add tough, physical players. That's the whole motto here.''
