Adrian Peterson officially a no-show for Minnesota Vikings OTAs
The standoff has officially begun between the Minnesota Vikings and star running back Adrian Peterson.
As the rest of the team gathered for the start of organized team activities, ESPN's Ben Goessling was able to confirm that Peterson was not in attendance. Peterson's decision to skip out on OTAs was widely reported beforehand, so this move isn't much of a surprise.
This should surprise no one, but in the interest of being thorough: Adrian Peterson was officially absent from #Vikings OTAs today.

Goessling notes that missing OTAs will cost Peterson $250,000 in workout bonuses. That's chump change compared to his $12.75 million in guaranteed money for the 2015 season, notes SiriusXM NFL Radio host Ross Tucker.
Trade talk and retirement rumors have spread, but both escape avenues lack legs for Peterson. Complicating the entire situation are Peterson's legal troubles. He was first indicted on a felony charge for reckless or negligent injury to a child last September and played in only one game during the 2014 season due to suspension.
The Peterson saga is sure to drag on into the summer.
