Aaron Rodgers backs Tom Brady amid Deflategate controversy

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has become one of professional sports' most polarizing figures since his role in the Deflategate scandal. Some say he's a cheater; others still see him as a hero.

But Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers calls him a "buddy," according to Christopher Price of WEEI.

"Tom’s a buddy, and he’s going through some stuff right now. I’m sure we’ll have resolution here pretty soon," Rodgers said, per WEEI. "I don’t know enough about it to make any comment on [Deflategate]. But Tom’s a buddy, and I’d like to see it get figured out before the season."

Even though Rodgers refused to comment on the scandal itself, he did go into detail about the bond he shares with Brady as a starting quarterback in the NFL and the face of a franchise.

"There’s only 32 of us," Rodgers said, via WEEI. "[There are] a lot of expectations. A lot of adversity. We also have a great opportunity and platform to make a difference. I think you realize how difficult it is to play the position, the stuff you deal with every single day. You wear a lot of hats, as a leader, as an encourager. As a supporter. As a cheerleader. Disciplinarian. You lead from a lot of different vantage points. It’s also really thrilling. You know what those guys are going through and it’s fun to get to know some of the guys."

Brady and Rodgers are two of the best quarterbacks in the game today. Between them, they have 14 Pro Bowl bids, four All-Pro selections, four NFL Most Valuable Player awards, five Super Bowl victories and four Super Bowl MVP honors.
