5-TD effort nets Seahawks' Wilson NFC Offensive Player of Week honors

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson received a belated birthday present Wednesday, earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in Sunday's 39-30 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wilson tossed a career-high five touchdown passes to tie a franchise record held by Dave Krieg, Matt Hasselbeck and Warren Moon. He finished 21-of-30 for 345 yards and a season-high quarterback rating of 147.9 on the day he turned 27.

Despite feeling ill and needing three intravenous bags to get through the game, Wilson connected on three of his touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, including scoring strikes of 30 and 80 yards to Doug Baldwin to seal the outcome.

It was his fifth weekly honor and marked the 20th time that Wilson has thrown multiple touchdown passes without an interception - the most by any quarterback in his first four seasons since the NFL merger in 1970.
