49ers officially announce Kelly's 15-assistant coaching staff

The San Francisco 49ers formally announced Chip Kelly's coaching staff on Wednesday.

Kelly brought in 15 assistants from eight different teams, including four from his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles while retaining four coaches from the previous regime with the 49ers.

There is one common thread on Kelly's staff - none of the assistants have any head coaching experience. Kelly made the last key hire Tuesday by naming former Cleveland Browns assistant Jim O’Neil as his defensive coordinator.

Running backs coach Tom Rathman, outside linebackers coach Jason Tarver, offensive assistant line coach Eric Wlford and Mick Lombardi (quality control) were the holdovers from San Francisco's start.

Kelly brought Ryan Day (quarterbacks), Rob Bicknell (receivers), Jerry Azzinaro (defensive line) and Michael Clay (special teams assistant) with him from the Eagles.
