49ers add former Colts secondary coach Anderson to staff
The San Francisco 49ers on Monday named Roy Anderson as the team’s assistant defensive backs coach.
Anderson joined new coach Chip Kelly's staff after serving the previous four seasons as the secondary coach with the Indianapolis Colts. The 49ers had formally announced Kelly's staff of 15 assistants last week.
The 35-year-old Anderson, who also spent seven seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (2005-11), will be working under a pair of defensive coaches brought in from the Cleveland Browns.
Kelly hired ex-Browns defensive coordinator Jim O'Neil to serve in the same capacity with San Francisco while Jeff Hafley is the new secondary coach after spending the previous two seasons in that role with Cleveland.
