Dirk Nowitzki grew up watching basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal. Now he passed one of his biggest records.

O'Neal may have won four NBA championships during his career to Nowitzki's one, but the Dallas Mavericks star surpassed O'Neal as No. 6 overall on the NBA's all-time scoring list. O'Neal finished his 19-year career in 2011 with 28,596 points. With his first 10 points against the Nets on Wednesday night, Nowitzki surpassed O'Neal.
