Wade awaits custody ruling

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade Saturday began the wait for a ruling in his long-lasting battle for the custody of his two children after the closing arguments were heard in the bitter case that had caused more headlines in recent months than his on-court exploits.

Wade and his ex-wife Siohvaughn Wade have been battling for sole custody of their two sons, Zaire, 8, and Zion, 3, since their divorce in 2007.

In October, the basketball star gave evidence denying allegations that he hit his ex-wife and children, used drugs, owned guns or had ever had a sexually transmitted disease.

He also testified that his ex-wife physically attacked him and threw something at him during an argument.

In their closing arguments Friday, Mr. Wade's attorney, James B. Pritikin reiterated the central accusation that Mrs. Wade had anger management problems and needed psychiatric help, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

While Mrs. Wade's attorney, Michael A. Haber, pushed the assertion that the NBA All-Star was using his money and fame to denigrate her and take the children despite having not been there for them because he was too preoccupied with his career.

A ruling is expected within two months.
