Utah Jazz: Joe Ingles' Big Day & the Miracle in Miami
Utah Jazz weekend notes, including Joe Ingles’ birthday and Craig Bolerjack’s memories of Paul Millsap’s “Miracle in Miami.”
Joe Ingles is the man. The Utah Jazz have only just wrapped up training camp following an extended offseason, but Ingles is already in mid-season form. He’s calling his teammates out on Twitter, taking local beat writers to task for “taking creepy pictures” of him and cracking wise every week on local radio in Salt Lake City.
He’s also smoking his teammates on the hardwood with his red-hot shooting stroke. Ask him and he’ll tell you all about it.
Questioned recently about whether he could be the team’s best shooter, Ingles didn’t hesitate to respond in the affirmative. “Oh by far, it’s not even close,’’ he said after a recent practice. “I’m first, George [Hill] is a close second. He’s a great shooter.”
The fast-talking, slow-moving, humble-bragging Ingles celebrated his 29th birthday on Sunday. Ingles’ wife, Renae, shared a picture the Jazz wing blowing out his candles with his twin babies in tow via Instagram–
Times have definitely changed in Jazzland — Ingles is no longer the team’s elder statesman. He may be inching ever close to the Big Three-Oh, but with Joe Johnson and Boris Diaw in the fold, he’s looking a lot younger these days.
He still moves like an old guy though.
Happy birthday, Slow-Mo Joe!

Bolerjack Remembers the Miracle in Miami
In our recent rankings of the five best power forwards in Jazz history, I made mention of Paul Millsap’s “Miracle in Miami.” Although Millsap played for the team for seven seasons, his game-winning 46-point performance against LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in 2010 stands tall as his greatest Jazz moment.
As part of the team’s Memories with Boler video series, Jazz play-by-play man Craig Bolerjack shared his thoughts about the game and Millsap’s incredible effort to secure a come-from-behind victory in overtime.
Here’s Bolerjack’s thoughts on the game–

Millsap is with the Atlanta Hawks now and Jazz are in a different place, but the Miracle in Miami remains one of the greatest games in team history.
