The Portland Trail Blazers hit the road Saturday night for the first away game of the season. Their opponent is a familiar foe: the Denver Nuggets. These two teams met in preseason less than two weeks ago at the Moda Center. Denver left Portland with an impressive preseason win.

Tonight’s game will air on CSNNW (Channel 37 or 737 on Comcast/Xfinity) at 6pm Pacific. As always, the radio play-by-play is on 620am. If you’re a Portland fan in the Rocky Mountain range, the game will show on Altitude.
As division rivals, these teams will meet four times this season. The Northwest Division is clearly wide open and every game will be an important affair – this game being no different.
Denver’s season started with an impressive road win against the New Orleans Pelicans. Coming off a rebuilding season last year, the Nuggets will be much more dangerous this season. They have a solid head coach and talent throughout the entire roster. They might not be ready to challenge for the playoffs, but they will be able to beat anyone on any night.
For the Trail Blazers, this Nuggets match-up is crucial. After a draining home loss to the Clippers Thursday night, they must recover to take care of the Nuggets. A loss tonight and the Blazers will be favored to begin the season 1-3 as the Golden State Warriors loom on Tuesday.
A road trip to Denver is definitely considered a ‘trap game.’ Traveling to a young, hungry Denver team sandwiched between emotional Clippers and Warriors match-ups will be challenging for Portland.
