AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) Toronto star Kyle Lowry is sitting out Sunday night's game against the Detroit Pistons in what coach Dwane Casey says is an attempt to get the high-scoring guard some rest.
Lowry had played all 57 games this season for the Raptors, and he scored 43 points Friday in a win over Cleveland.
The Raptors entered Sunday with a 5 1/2-game lead over Boston in the Atlantic Division, and they'll need to keep their players from getting worn down if they're going to make a lengthy run in the postseason.
Lowry is averaging a career-high 21.4 points per game in 2015-16 - and a career-high 37 minutes.
