Thompson: Splash Bros. are the 'best shooting duo' of all-time
The Golden State Warriors' duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson has established itself as arguably the greatest shooting backcourt of all-time, and the tandem isn't afraid to admit it.
While speaking at an Anta sneaker event in China to promote his new signature shoe, Thompson was asked if the Warriors' guards were the "best shooting duo" of all-time.
"I agree, I think so," Thompson said, according to CBS Sports. "You know, Steph is one of the best to ever play. I think I'm right there by him. We both led the NBA in 3s, we were No. 1 and 2. I don't know if that has ever happened on the same team.
"I think we are the best shooting backcourt, maybe of all-time. We still got a lot to prove and I still think we are just scratching the surface of what we can be."
This isn't the first time this phrase has been uttered. Back in April of 2013, then-Warriors coach Mark Jackson said the Warriors' tandem was "the greatest shooting backcourt in the history of the game." It was a bold claim at the time -- a hyperbolic quality Jackson is known for -- but it seems to have panned out.
The Warriors are fresh off a 67-win championship season, in which Curry claimed the league MVP and Thompson grew into an All-Star and franchise player. The tandem led the league in three-pointers made this season, and Curry (44 percent) and Thompson (41.8 percent) are near the top of all-time 3-point shooting list in terms of percentage and volume combined.
Any way you look at it, Thompson is probably right. Now imagine if they're just scratching the surface.
