Reviewing Raymond Felton's 2014-15 season

Raymond Felton came to the Dallas Mavericks with almost no expectations. At the time, he was battling off-court troubles in New York, conditioning issues, an ankle injury and the rapidly declining ability to run a basketball team.

For the most part, those expectations held true, and the Mavericks got nothing more than third-string production from a player who started 65 games the previous season.

Here's more on Felton's year that was, courtesy of Mavs.com:

"To a man, if you asked the Mavs who the best pro was on the team all season long, they’d answer Raymond Felton. Dallas acquired him along with Tyson Chandler last summer, and Felton figured to be in the rotation once the season started, but he badly injured his ankle during the preseason and the recovery process took far longer than expected. Ultimately, by the time he became healthy, the rotation was already set. Then, in the playoffs, he again suffered an injury, essentially ending his season early."

Felton will pick up his player option, keeping him in Dallas for the 2015-16 season. He's still only 30 years old, though, and the Mavericks are surely holding out hope that head coach Rick Carlisle will be able to get him back on track.
