Report: Sharapova sporting $250K ring
After earning two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, Sasha Vujacic knows a thing or two about rings.
Since the Lakers guard proposed to tennis star Maria Sharapova, the three-time Grand Slam champion has been seen in public flashing a massive diamond ring believed to cost $250,000, according to a jewelry expert contacted by Us Weekly.
According to the expert, the ring cradles a center stone that appears to be a cushion-cut diamond of about seven to eight carats on a thick, split-shank platinum band.
Vujacic said he proposed to Sharapova at his Manhattan Beach, Calif., home on the one-year anniversary of their first meeting at a friend’s barbecue.
No wedding date has been announced.
Vujacic and the Lakers claim their championship rings and hang the franchise’s 16th banner Tuesday. The Lakers square off against the Houston Rockets as the team begins its quest for a third consecutive championship.
Sharapova won her first major title at Wimbledon in 2004, when she was 17. She went on to win the 2006 U.S. Open and 2008 Australian Open and also reached No. 1 in the WTA rankings.
After shoulder surgery and an elbow injury forced her to miss time the past two seasons, Sharapova is currently ranked 18th.
