Report: Portland may be interested in signing Anthony Bennett
Two years ago, Anthony Bennett was the NBA's first overall draft pick, a 20-year-old born in Toronto with a high ceiling and much potential. Today, after getting bought out by the Minnesota Timberwolves, he's without a team.
But the Portland Trail Blazers may have interest in rehabilitating the 22-year-old power forward.
The Blazers have a Canadian connection in Jay Triano, the head coach of Canada's national team and an assistant on Portland's staff. But more importantly, the Trail Blazers have nearly $20 million in cap space and are able to absorb castaways like Bennett with almost no risk.
The only downside is they're already deep at power forward, with guys like Ed Davis, Meyers Leonard, Noah Vonleh and Al-Farouq Aminu all champing at the bit for playing time.
Bennett may very well end up in Portland, but it's unclear how he'd fit into its rotation.
