Report: Luol Deng (hamstring) a game-time decision vs. Knicks

Published Nov. 23, 2015 3:33 p.m. ET

Luol Deng has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and now, his status against the Knicks for Monday night's game is uncertain.

From Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post:

Deng is averaging 10.4 points and 3.8 rebounds a game so far this season. If he is unable to go, the next man up would likely be the rookie, Justise Winslow, who is yet to start his first NBA game but might get the opportunity at Madison Square Garden. Not only would Winslow be caught in the big lights on that one, but he'd also be stuck defending Carmelo Anthony.

That's one heck of a task for a first career start, even if Winslow has been fantastic on the defensive end so far this season.

Deng was in the building for shootaround this morning, but did not go full-speed and will be a game-time decision.

“I’ll be able to tell how it feels and if I can make it worse or not,” he said. “I’ve got a pretty good feel for things like that.

“I’ve learned to play with certain injuries. Sometimes I might not be as effective as I can be, but I try to really focus on other things I can do. Being in the league for a while, I can tell if it’s an injury where I can’t go. I’ll do some sprints and see how it goes.”
