Report: 'Legitimate concerns' about LeBron playing in 2016 Olympics
LeBron James will attend next week's USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas, but only for a single day. Jerry Colangelo has said that attendance was mandatory for those who wished to be considered for the 2016 Olympic roster, and James showing up is believed to be a sign of respect for the program, and his desire to set a good example for others.
But once next summer rolls around, will James even want to participate?
It's worth wondering for sure, and in a piece from Sean Deveney of Sporting News, he says there are "legitimate concerns" whether or not veterans like James (and Carmelo Anthony) will want the honor.
In LeBron's case, you can see why he might choose to skip it. He's been to the Finals an incredible five straight seasons, and is expected to play deep into the postseason again next year. He'll be 31 years of age, and has already put plenty of miles on his body.
With two gold medals already in his possession, James may value rest over trying for a third. Because at this point, winning NBA championships is now far more important to his overall legacy.
