Report: Lamar Odom will not face criminal drug charges in Nevada
As he continued his recovery in southern California, former NBA star Lamar Odom had been facing the potential of further investigation by law enforcement. But according to an Associated Press report, Odom will not be charged with drug possession after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel in October.
While the sheriff's office recommended a felony count of unlawful use of cocaine, District Attorney Angela Bello said that there wasn't sufficient evidence to prove Odom used the drug while in Nye County. Because the cocaine had already metabolized, there was no way to show when Odom had actually used the drug.
Odom, 36, has been on a long road to recovery. At one point, the former basketball star was in such poor condition that Kobe Bryant and Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak actually left a preseason game to visit him in the hospital. Odom is reportedly suffering from memory loss and "can barely walk" on his own.
Odom reportedly was released from the hospital and transitioned into a private care facility earlier this week.
