Report: Knicks' Stoudemire declines contract termination option

New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire has declined his early termination option and will return to the team for the 2014-15 season, Comcast SportsNet reports.

Next season is the final season of Stoudemire's five-year, $100 million contract. He will earn $23.4 million by returning to the Knicks.

Had he exercised his termination option, Stoudemire would have become an unrestricted free agent.

Stoudemire, 31, has seen his production drop in recent seasons because of health issues, mainly knee injuries. His points per game, rebounds per game and blocks per game all have dropped the past three seasons since his All-Star campaign in his first season with the Knicks in 2010-11.
