Report: Kerr 'absolutely expects' to be offered Knicks head coaching job

Former NBA player and current analyst Steve Kerr "absolutely expects" to be offered the Knicks head coaching position, the New York Post reports.

Kerr, who spent five seasons playing for current Knicks executive Phil Jackson during Kerr's 16-year career, would "definitely" accept the position if it's offered, according to The Post. Kerr, who currently works for TNT, reportedly has asked to have his schedule adjusted during the playoffs if he is named Knicks head coach.

Kerr, who has no coaching experience but was the Suns general manager from 2007-10, helped the Bulls win three consecutive titles from 1996-1998 while playing for Jackson. Kerr's knowledge of the triangle offense, which Jackson employed during his coaching career, should also give him a leg up if the Knicks plan on going in a different direction.

The team has not decided whether to bring back current head coach Mike Woodson, who has one year left on his deal.
