Report: Charlotte to sign Jason Washburn
The Charlotte Hornets have a crowded frontcourt, 14 guaranteed contracts and three non-guaranteed deals looking to grab that last open spot in training camp. But apparently they still feel like they can use more height.
According to Sportando, the Hornets signed former University of Utah center Jason Washburn, who's 6'10" and already 25 years old.
Washburn spent four seasons as a Ute and left two years ago with career averages of 8.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game; he played professionally in Belgium last season.
This is likely a non-guaranteed deal, and it's hard to see how Washburn makes Charlotte's opening day roster, with Al Jefferson, Spencer Hawes and Frank Kaminsky already holding the center position down. Washburn has his work cut out for him.
