Report: Bucks could target Pacers' Roy Hibbert this offseason
It's been a relatively quiet offseason in Indiana, but things could change for the Pacers rather quickly once the NBA Draft passes.
Shortly after the draft on June 25, the deadline for players to pick up options for next season will come to pass on July 1. And Indiana has a rather big name with a decision to make in Roy Hibbert, who has a $15.5 million player option for next season. That's a lot of money to pass up, and it's pretty safe to guess that Hibbert will be back with the Pacers next season. But if he's considering a change of scenery and taking the chance on signing one more big deal, then there will be suitors for the king of verticality, as Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler reports:
Things have taken a turn for the worse for Hibbert since Indiana was vying with the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference playoffs, which seems like such a long time ago. And the Bucks, a team on the rise with a stifling young defense, could definitely use Hibbert's rim protection in the middle. Furthermore, Milwaukee has the shooters on the perimeter you need in order to space the floor properly around Hibbert. It's a good fit between team and player, but the security of the player option might win out in the end.
