Report: Al-Farouq Aminu's contract market will be in $4 million per year range

Dallas Mavericks forward Al-Farouq Aminu was a reclamation project for Rick Carlisle, and it turned out to be a successful one. As the season moved on, Aminu earned more trust and minutes and became a valuable role player for the Mavericks, particularly in the postseason.

Aminu, still just 24-years-old, will now be an unrestricted free agent with a chance to cash in on his improved play. But will Dallas still be able to afford the former lottery pick?

Here's Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com with more:

"League sources estimate that the market for Aminu will be in the $4 million per year range.

The problem for the Mavs is that they aren't likely to have the full midlevel exception ($5.46 million) and the cap-room exception ($2.81 million) probably won't be enough to pay Aminu market value. In other words, the Mavs should plan on needing to use some of their precious cap space to pay Aminu."
