Phoenix Suns' Scrimmage Notes and Recap
The Phoenix Suns’ annual intra-squad scrimmage at the end of training camp ended in a very entertaining 72-72 tie.
Eric Bledsoe hit the game tying shot for the Phoenix Suns‘ black jersey team at the buzzer following two missed free throws at the other end by Tyler Ulis. It was even Bledsoe that grabbed the defensive board prior to hitting the tying shot.
That capped a very strong fourth quarter for Bledsoe, who down the stretch hit a transition lay up, a three, a jumper, and drew a shooting foul.
If not for Bledsoe’s late heroics, the story of the second half was Dragan Bender. This was the most confident Bender the Suns have seen to date. Down the stretch, he was firing at will.
This was the series of plays though that Suns’ fans should be losing their minds over: Len posts up Bender, Dragan wins the match up; next possession, Bender hits a three; next offensive possession, Bender throws a half court outlet pass to Goodwin for a transition bucket.
Bender would miss his next three, but he then blocked T.J. Warren the next time down the floor. He followed that with another 3. He would add one more later in the quarter, giving him three 3’s in the fourth alone, to go along with at least three blocks for Bender.
Short takes:
October 3 the Phoenix Suns start preseason, so you’re close to having all the NBA you can handle.
