Jrue Holiday has been the starting point guard for the Pelicans when healthy, but that hasn't been the case for the majority of the past two seasons.
Holiday has missed 90 games in total over that span, but should be ready to go once training camp opens next week. Still, the team is understandably taking the cautious approach.
Holiday averaged 32.6 minutes per contest in 40 appearances last season, and 33.6 minutes in 34 contests the year prior. If he does see less playing time, it will mean guys like Eric Gordon are healthy, too, which would be a best-case scenario considering the way things shook out with these players in recent seasons.

''We're not going to ask Jrue to come out and play 35 to 40 minutes a game,'' Pelicans GM Dell Demps said. ''We are really strong at the guard position. We feel like we have a deep team. Having a deep team, I feel our strength is in our numbers, so we don't have to put the pressure on him to go out and play (extensive) minutes a game.''
