Pelicans F Anderson to miss game with swelling in both ankles
MINNEAPOLIS -- The New Orleans Pelicans say forward Ryan Anderson will miss Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of swelling and soreness in both ankles.
The 6-foot-10 Anderson is averaging 14.7 points per game this season while shooting 41 percent. But his accuracy from the perimeter - normally his strength - has declined sharply lately. In his past four games, he has made 11 of 46 shots, hitting at a rate of 24 percent.
Anderson's injuries further hampers a Pelicans squad already missing starting point guard Jrue Holiday, who is expected to be sidelined up to a month with a stress reaction in his lower right leg.
It is not yet clear if Anderson will be able to return Sunday when New Orleans hosts the Dallas Mavericks.
