DALLAS (AP) All-Star forward Anthony Davis has left New Orleans' game against Dallas with a left shoulder sprain and won't return.

Davis injured the shoulder late in the first half and went to the locker room after the Pelicans called a timeout with 4:13 left in the first half Wednesday night. Davis had six points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 13 minutes.

The second-year player leads New Orleans in scoring and rebounding, entering the game at 20.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest. He leads the NBA in blocked shots at 3.04 per game.

Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki went to the locker room holding his left shoulder 31 seconds into the game but returned a short time later.
