Paul George is Hoping to Get Back to Being The Guy for the Indiana Pacers

Beginning the season battling various injuries, Paul George is hoping to get back to being a superstar for the Indiana Pacers.

Paul George looked like a superstar at times during the beginning of this season, but for the most part, he’s looked off.

For instance, he was the definition of clutch against the Lakers on November 1st when he willed the Pacers to a victory. Then you have some other performances, like against Atlanta on November 23rd. Paul shot 6-22 from the field and 2-11 from deep. He was clearly limited by an injury that day.

Through 12 games, Paul George is averaging 20.8 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game. His shooting numbers are decent — 43.9% from the field, 37.2% from deep and 93.0% from the foul line.

Paul George recently spoke with Nate Taylor of the Indy Star about his injuries and how he wants to get back to form.

“I think just sitting out and watching, I’ve got to get back to being the guy for us. I’ve got to have the trust of the team, I’ve got to have the trust of the organization. This has been my group, this has been my team. I’ve got to get back to that. That’s what I’m looking forward to, being our leader.”

George’s status for tomorrow’s game against the Clippers hasn’t officially been decided, but Paul is hopeful to return. More good news involving injury is that C.J. Miles is also hopeful to return from his knee issue tomorrow night.

The Indiana Pacers desperately need Paul George to get back to that elite level. They’re in the midst of a tough road trip, including a stop in Oakland  to play the Golden State Warriors.

Your superstar typically wills your team to victories on the road. We shall see if Paul will once again be that guy for the Pacers when fully healthy.
