Oklahoma's Hield looks to elevate game

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma's Buddy Hield says he's ready for more responsibility this season.

The guard focused on shooting jumpers last season while his teammates attacked the basket. Now, he expects to combine the attacking style he used his freshman year with the spot-on jump shooting from his sophomore year to become an all-around weapon as a junior.

Hield was a second-team All-Big 12 player last season after averaging 17.5 points per game in conference play. He shot 43 percent from 3-point range in league play and tied for the Big 12 lead in 3-pointers per game during league games. His 90 3-pointers last season are the sixth-most in school history. The preseason All-Big 12 pick is the No. 2 returning scorer in the conference.
