Jrue Holiday to miss beginning of season to help his family recover
Unfortunately, there is no way to discuss this week’s New Orleans Pelicans news without recognizing the miserable elephant in the room. This week, it was announced that the team will be without their star point guard for an indefinite chunk of time to start the season as his wife recovers from the removal of a brain tumor and the birth of the couple’s first child.
Jrue put it best himself in his comments to the Times-Picayune’s Jeff Duncan:
“I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else.”
After his wife put her career on hold to be a part of her husband’s busy life and begin to raise a family with him, Jrue will now be returning the consideration in these unfortunate circumstances. The child is due in October, and the procedure will follow shortly thereafter, meaning Jrue won’t be back any time soon. Duncan’s reporting here is top-notch, and will answer any questions you may have.
